31 International festival on the Jame's road

29 Jul 2022 - 28 Aug 2022
Huesca, Spain

The history of the festival is made up of more than 300 concerts by two hundred prestigious groups in a series of stages spread along the Camino de Santiago in Aragon, from Canfranc to Ruesta, passing through Villanúa, Castiello, Jaca, Santa Cilia, Santa Cruz de la Seros, San Juan de la Peña, Bailo, Berdún or Artieda. Concerts of early music or cultured music, above all, medieval markets, street theater, minstrels, gastronomy cycles... All this with a primary objective: to revitalize and dignify the Jacobean route in Aragon and the monumental heritage that marks it, through these cultural manifestations.

The event, consolidated as a cultural and musical event of recognized prestige, presents a repertoire that ranges from the Middle Ages to the Baroque and that is identified with the artistic characteristics of those periods. The venues that host the concerts make a similar journey: from the Romanesque of the Cathedral of San Pedro and the church of Santa María de Santa Cruz de la Serós, to the Gothic and Baroque of the parish of Berdún or the church of Carmen de Jaca, incorporating in recent years the Parish Church of Hecho.

The Festival, as far as early music is concerned, has become a meeting point for the most important formations and soloists specialized in the musical repertoire it covers. The selection criteria of the participants are based on the presence of artists of recognized international prestige and others more novice but with a demonstrated musical quality. The origin of the formations is varied, but every year a space is reserved for Spanish artists and our Aragonese Autonomous Community.
