43 Semana Internacional de Música de Cámara de Montserrat
Since the summer of 1981, Montserrat Town Council has been organising musical performances as part of what is known as the International Chamber Music Week or SIMC. Through the SIMC, the municipality has intended these concert cycles to serve our society, in which musical culture is so deeply rooted, to disseminate, get to know and promote other types of music, such as chamber music (from the Renaissance to the present day) which, although within the framework of classical music, is somewhat more unknown and alienated from our culture. Also contemporary music and opera, which until then had been the great unknown in the world of music for many of us.
It is an event that boosts cultural tourism, with pretensions of internationalisation.
Chamber music concerts, opera performances, etc., are organised in the open air, since traditionally this type of music was performed in places that were theoretically more suitable for its performance, as well as in the great centres of music in the case of opera.
Proof of the projection that this festival has experienced is the number and quality of the artists who have paraded through it, all of them of recognised national and international prestige, as well as the possibility of offering young talents with an important and dense musical trajectory.
