Etnology Festival 2019

30 May 2019 - 01 Jun 2019
Belgrade, Serbia

Etnology Festival is an annual, three-day event presenting a glimpse into a wide range of ethno-influenced themes (fashion, music, art, film and more), showcasing the cultural products which explore both the traditional and modern lifestyles of human communities, offering fascinating insights via varying cultural formats.

The Festival has an international character, through its various forms of expression: fashion shows, exhibitions, handicrafts, documentaries, workshops and lectures - showcasing the importance of intangible cultural heritage as well as its continuous presence in contemporary society through modern art and among the new generations.

Our Mission & Goals

The mission of Etnology Festival is to foster research and creative approaches to the traditional and ethnographic themes, educate the public on diverse local cultural traditions, as well as to raise awareness of the problems of the modern society which often neglects the values of cultural heritage.

The Festival targets young people and the academic population involved in social sciences and humanities, students, scholars and artists. It also endeavours to attract local communities involved in safeguarding their own cultural heritage. Each year, the Festival puts a special spotlight a different country.

Our goal is to celebrate the timeless beauty of traditional and cultural intangible heritage, as well as to point out the dangers in forgetting our cultural roots and values in a globalized world. A special emphasis is placed on traditional art forms and cultural heritage and their continuing presence in modern society through contemporary fashion.
