In keeping with its 12th year, the festival is making the "Horoscope" its theme and will lead from 27 July to 1 August, 2024 with a musical journey through the 12 signs of the zodiac and elements. With their character traits, they become an inspiration for the musical programmes, quite apart from any esotericism. Also in this festival summer, the KmfSylt brings with it a diverse foray through the composer universe of different times: from evergreens by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonin Dvorak or Ludwig van Beethoven to rarities by Luciano Berio, Karlheinz Stockhausen or Philipp Glass. In the style of the KmfSylt, the festival always brings new or lesser-known pieces to the stage and thus arouses the envy of its audience.

This year's Composer in Residence is the respected and exploratory composer Helena Winkelman from Switzerland, whose music will be heard with a world premiere on every day of the festival and in the final concert. The composer will also be part of the festival as a violinist. KmfSylt also presents two other exciting composition commissions from award-winning and up-and-coming composers in its programme. The British-Australian Kate Moore and Vlad Maistorovici from Romania, whose commissioned works will also have their premiere at the festival. As usual, renowned and excellent chamber musicians from the international music world will be guests on the island at the invitation of Artistic Director Claude Frochaux, who are usually at home on the world's great stages.

The Sylt Chamber Music Festival organises 18 events in its six festival days at various locations on the North Sea island.
