Monemvasia, Mal(e)vasia of the Venetians, Mal(e)voisie of the Franks, the "stone ship" of the poet Yiannis Ritsos, presents and celebrates a unique aspect of its history and culture. This June, from 9 to 11, 2023, the famous Malvasia wine showcases its aroma and culture, its flavor and history, in the first international Malvasia Festival of Monemvasia.

"Malvasia Festival Monemvasia" is the first international Malvasia Festival based in Monemvasia. Ispired by the verse of Yiannis Ritsos, the poet of Monemvasia, "And what was it? Reversed time?", the festival is a three-day celebration and marks the return of the most famous wine in history to its birthplace. The festival consists of the three sections that compose the legend of the famous wine, "Wine - History - Culture", inviting visitors to get to know the course and the history of Malvasia and, at the same time, discover the place where the journey began from.

Reversed time; the past converses with the present and time unites with the place, Monemvasia, in a spatio-temporal creative contimuum.
