Miercurea Ciuc Early Music Festival

In 2024, the Miercurea Ciuc Early Music Festival will again offer a colorful programme of concerts, professional lectures, children's activities, wine tasting, and other accompanying events. The theme of this year's edition is Parallels-Opposites. During the nine days of the festival, it tries to show parallels and contrasts between different musical genres and ages, such as early music, folk music and contemporary music, loud and soft, East and West, vocal and instrumental music, and the works of male and female composers.

The festival will be accompanied by the 16th Early Music Summer University, from 14 to 19 July, with masterclasses where students can learn historical performance techniques and improve their musical skills under the guidance of leading teachers and renowned performers, and then present their skills to the public at the closing concert of the Summer University.

The festival is organised by the Cultural Center of Harghita County, the Harghita County Council, and co-organised by the Municipality of Miercurea Ciuc.
