Mirabilia Festival 2021

XV edition

THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN '

An edition of hope, whose title is borrowed from a famous and beautiful song by Bob Dylan, a mirabilia of desire to "do not give up", of stimulus to the local territory and together with the national artistic panorama. The definitive awareness of the epochal change that the Covid imposed on our society, the recognition of the needs of an isolated society has been enclosed by over a year and at the same time a preparation for the rebirth and the challenges they will come.

Mirabilia 2021 will be a way to return to being together, to design the city and the territory, to interact and stimulate the places most affected by this pandemic and above all to remind you young people, but also to tell to children, that there is also another world and Another way of life, an "external" world that is not made of school streaming and masks. A way to say that exists and that there is still a universe made of culture, tourism, meeting, comparison, and that this is now only temporarily supervised, but is struggling and reinventing to return stronger, more innovative and more cohesive than before.

“Come gather 'round people - Wherever you roam - And admit that the waters - Around you have grown - And accept it that soon - You'll be drenched to the bone - If your time to you is worth savin' - And you better start swimmin' - Or you'll sink like a stone

For the times they are a-changin'

Come writers and critics - Who prophesize with your pen - And keep your eyes wide - The chance won't come again - And don't speak too soon - For the wheel's still in spin - And there's no tellin' who - That it's namin' - For the loser now - Will be later to win

For the times they are a-changin' (Bob Dylan)
“Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.”
(Victor Hugo, Les Misérables)

Programming festival How much of creation (through the project of artistic residences and the numerous European projects carried out), Mirabilia has created a format that uses spaces as elements to create new public and reach non-public through a cultural offer that makes of transdisciplinarity point of strength and element of dialogue with people of all ages, with a billboard that combines the popular show, research of a performance scope, Site specific creations and much more, inviting the public to choose and develop "their own mirabilia": concomitances of Timetables, diversity of genres, disciplines, transdisciplinary proposals, collateral events, etc. "Obtant" the spectator decide, to advise, to confront himself, to become "building" so "his festival" (different from that of another spectator) in a path of discovery.

The public space does not therefore understood only as a container but as a possible course to identify new ways of thinking and acting and to orient and encourage meetings through cultural activities. A white canvas on which to express themselves, a canvas of the community and for the community.

The event, in a pre-covid situation, leads around 50-60,000 spectators to the edition, of which almost 50% from outside the region, and sees in his ways a turnover mainly from Turin, Rome, Milan and Bologna, the Italian cities In which it is best known, over about a 5% public from abroad, of which most comes from France and Spain. Every year program between 35 and 60 companies on the most common bending 15-18 theatrical spaces. In 2020, despite the pandemic context, it took place completely with public in the presence. The spectators were almost 9000's overall with an average stay of 3.5 days.

A festival "in presence" therefore, because culture can be integrated with digital and the web, helping it to take shapes and paths that are still unexplored, but culture is experience and emotion, and how they are teaching us in Europe in this period, It must be "live" to be able to carry out some of its primary and fundamental functions: growth and social aggregation. Therefore the investment on digital is important, indeed very important, but, we consider, mainly where this is not intended as a substitute but but "integrative" and above all functional to a revival of the live event enriched with new visions and opportunities.
