Sephardic Culture Festival - Izmir

08 Dec 2018 - 09 Dec 2018

There is a great cultural legacy in the memory of the city of Izmir and the Sephardic community, which since the 16th century is an important component of the ethnic mosaic of today’s Konak district area.

Sephardis who came to Anatolia did not bring their own culture only. Having lived for centuries alongside Muslim and Christian societies, many elements of these cultures have been adopted by them. As a result, a Sephardic culture unique to Izmir emerged with its music, cuisine, traditions and reflections on art.

On December 8-9, 2018 we celebrate this culture for the first time in the historical Kemeraltı bazaar.
