Waldorfest

27 Jun 2024 - 30 Jun 2024
Nagymaros, Hungary

Waldorfeszt is a small festival of a thousand people in the Danube bend, whose magical and peaceful atmosphere is created by the festival-goers together with the performers, volunteers and organisers, for twelve years now. We are a grassroots festival, most of us volunteer in our spare time to create the event, which is open and accessible to all. Our aim is to create a cultural space where young artists and NGOs can present themselves, where anyone can exchange ideas, in a free, relaxed and peaceful environment. The core of our festival programme is made up of civil, craft, music, literature, theatre and other creative communities. We seek to help, spread knowledge, connect with nature and protect the environment while having fun and dancing.

Why are we Waldorfest? The core of the organising team has known each other since the Waldorf kindergarten, 25 years ago, and it was this core that created the first Waldorffest in 2010. Over the years, other Waldorf and non-Waldorf people have joined in, and together we form a community that creates Waldorf Fest year after year. We are trying to formulate what we now call "Waldorfism" and to put into practice the values that we have learned in Waldorf. We are creating a space where it is possible to combine the values brought from Waldorf with values based on similar or even completely different principles. It is a meeting point for artists and the arts, creators and creative people, and we believe that it is the combination of diverse thinking and value creation that makes the world a well-functioning system, and we try to be an example of this.
