41st International Chamber Music Week

18 Jul 2022 - 23 Jul 2022
Montserrat, Spain

Since the summer of 1981, the municipality of Montserrat, and at the head of this its City Council, has been developing musical performances framed in what we call the International Chamber Music Week or SIMC.

Through the SIMC, the municipality has intended that these concert cycles serve our society, in which musical culture is so deeply rooted, to spread, learn about and promote other types of music, such as chamber music (from the Renaissance to our days) which, although within the framework of classical music, is somewhat more unknown and alienates our culture. Also contemporary music, jazz, etc., and opera, which until then had turned out to be the great unknown within the world of music for many of us.

It is an event that promotes cultural tourism, with claims of internationalisation. Proof of this fact is having received from 2017 to the present, the seal of the European Association of Festivals, EFFE (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe).

It is a festival of small format but with a strong commitment to international work.

The setting in which the concerts are held is a bit peculiar. We are referring to organizing chamber music concerts, opera performances, etc., in the open air, since traditionally this type of music took place in places that were theoretically more suitable for its performance, as well as in the great music centers for the opera.
