8th Dancefestival Skopelos "Diamantis Palaiologos"

The Folklore Dance Festival "Diamantis Palaiologos" is organised by the non-profit organisation "Plegma", in the island of Skopelos, in honour of our teacher, Diamantis Palaiologos.

Dedicated to tradition, dancing, volunteering and contribution, we are inviting you to take hold of our hand and dance with us on the beautiful island of Skopelos, bringing all of Greece together with traditional melodies and rhythms.

The festival provides the opportunity to 600 young folk dancers to appear on stage as well as present their work in open rehearsals, seminars and workshops. The presentation of customs from different regions of Greece opens the way to coproductions by the participating dance groups.

At the same time, the spectacular parade by the dancers at the port of Skopelos sends forward a universal message of brotherhood and solidarity.

During the festival, all dancers hold open rehearsals, seminars and workshops on subjects related to folk dancing, as well as team building activities. Participants are inspired and learn from each other.

Numerous artists have been inspired by the festival’s concept as designers, cine directors, graphic artists, photographers end potters.

Numerous groups from all over Greece, Cyprus and Nepal as well as volunteers from Greece, Italy, Spain, Turque and USA have taken part in it, defineteley contributing to its success, while more than 7.500 people watch its performances every summer
