Aerial Arts Festival 2025

The Verein zur Überwindung der Schwerkraft - Association for Circus Arts, Professional Artistry and circus education in Berlin Friedrichshain - successfully organised in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023 the Berlin Aerial Arts Festival.

The Berlin Aerial Arts Festival is a festival with two directions both aiming to strengthen contemporary circus as an art form in Germany. Outstanding, groundbreaking and innovative artists from our city are brought to the stage and show Berlin audiences the great diversity of contemporary aerial artistry. The project addresses the underrepresentation of contemporary circus in the cultural sector and thus pursues the goal of increasing the visibility and to increase the audience's knowledge of the genre. We try to remain accessible to new audiences, while providing a platform for the entire spectrum of contemporary aerial arts. In our curation, we place a special focus on diversity and on artists who are otherwise underrepresented in the industry. For us, this includes, for example, LGBT+, people of color and older artists, career changers or those returning to the industry. We are also organising a large convention for aerial artists as part of the event - with professional and amateur workshops.
