Afrovibes Festival
Afrovibes is an annual multidisciplinary performing arts festival established in 1999. In 2018 the festival had its 15th edition. The festival presents contemporary African performing arts to an audience in The Netherlands and facilitates international co-productions between Dutch and African performing artists that tie in with existing questions with a Dutch audience. The mission is to connect young contemporary African performing artists with Dutch artists and audiences, and to stimulate innovative artistic exchange.
The festival has a history of presenting work of high artistic quality. In each festival edition several arts disciplines – theatre, dance, spoken word, visual arts – are brought together. The festival consists of a main programme which presents productions in the performing arts, accompanied by an extended fringe programme of public debates, meet & greet with the artists, post show talks, introductions, master classes and workshops.
Artistic director of the festival is Jay Pather (Cape Town, South Africa).
