The Estonian Music and Theatre Academy (EMTA) has been organising the Ceciliana early music festival every spring since 2014. Professionals and music students from Estonia and abroad will perform at the festival. The guests who perform at Ceciliana are active and renowned active musicians who participate in the work of several ensembles and are also respected pedagogues.At the 2024 Ceciliana Festival, EMTA's halls will feature great musicians, and EMTA's students and faculty members will also participate. The festival will be opened on Thursday 21 March by the baroque opera "La Calisto" by Francesco Cavalli, which will be performed for the first time in Estonia, directed by the renowned opera director Liis Kolle, and the music director, conductor and early music specialist Andrew Lawrence-King. The second performance of "La Calisto" will take place on Friday 22 March. On Saturday 23 March, the works of Johann Sebastian Bach will be heard in the halls of EMTA - at 2 pm there will be a Johann Sebastian Bach gala of EMTA organ and harpsichord students, and at 6 pm the violin sonatas of Johann Sebastian Bach will be performed by Andres Mustonen (violin) and Imbi Tarum (harpsichord). On the last day of the festival at 2 p.m., the vocal ensemble Reval Cantus will perform works by Desprez, di Lasso, Monteverdi, Gesualdo, Palestrina, Sweelinck, and Lembit Orgse (hammer piano), Meelis Orgse (baroque violin) and Johannes Sarapuu (baroque cello) will complete the festival.
