CROMA

22 Oct 2024 - 27 Oct 2024
Carnaxide, Portugal

Encouraging the creation and dissemination of avant-garde compositions places the Municipality of Oeiras at the top of national cultural investment and gives it credibility for its European projection. The 3rd Cycle, to be held in 2024, includes concerts, conferences, seminars, workshops and open talks with leading ensembles. The cycle's various activities aim to elevate CROMA to a level of great attractiveness, not only for the public specialised in the area, but also to bring it closer to the general and local public in the municipality of Oeiras. To this end, a seminar with an internationally renowned composer (Marc André), workshops with composers and formations of national importance, as well as talks will be open to the general public. There will be two commissions from Oeiras City Council to composers, during the 2024 Cycle. Each work will be labelled Oeiras City Council commission and the date of the premiere. The commissions will be distributed by the Portuguese Association of Composers in partnership with each group or Ensemble to the candidate composers. This programme is extremely important in the Portuguese creative world, placing the municipality of Oeiras at the epicentre of national creative stimulus, providing a structural basis for the development of other creative projects in various areas of creative production. In the 2024 edition, one of the Artistic Direction's objectives was to promote and publicise groups and performers based in the municipality of Oeiras. It also became a priority to establish partnerships and protocols with schools, with a particular focus on the municipality of Oeiras, as a way of making contact with and training new audiences.
