DIGITHALIA - Festival for virtual Theatre Forms Graz
Once again, we invite you to a festival full of theatre and digitality, encounters between people and machines and journeys through synthetic worlds and new friendships. In spring 2025, "DIGITHALIA - Festival for Virtual Theatre Forms Graz" will once again be dedicated to exploring innovative theatrical and digital narratives.
This edition brings together new texts, performances and multimedia works that deal with the question: How do we communicate today? Our way of communicating has changed. Everything is linked, networked and interconnected. Even the simplest conversation is embedded in hyperlinks, emojis and video clips. Our thinking is interconnected with programmes, bots and countless reference systems. The codes become part of our conversations and new forms of texts emerge. New authorial communities are forming, demanding new forms of theatre.
For four days, DIGITHALIA will turn the Schauspielhaus Graz into a platform for these new forms of theatre. The festival presents performances that venture into the unreality of the virtual world and pose questions about identity, location and home. The festival examines the extent to which technology needs theatre and vice versa. It also reveals how virtual spaces can facilitate analog encounters. DIGITHALIA brings together regional and international guest performances as well as productions from the Schauspielhaus in workshops, theatre evenings and experiments.
