The Doek Festival presents the current state of improvised music in all its diversity. The program focuses on top national and international improvisers in new and existing ensembles, but also can feature improvised dance, film, installations, exhibitions, discussions and workshops. The festival has grown from a one-day affair to a multi-day event spread around often surprising locations in Amsterdam. We reach an audience of approximately 1200, with many more following via social media. Plans for a 2021 festival edition are on hold until the Covid-19 restrictions are eased or lifted.
