Dombos Fest 2023
Dombos Fest is a world music festival, which was held for the first time in 2001 in Kishegyes/Mali Iđoš, Vojvodina. The venue of the festival is a former clay mine surrounded by natural loess walls, which was used for decades as a landfill and has been reborn thanks to the festival. The program of festival consists mainly of Hungarian and Serbian bands playing contemporary folk music and jazz, but many internationally renowned performers have also performed on the stage of Hegyalja Street. The festival also includes a gastronomy courtyard, where finger food and sweets made in an oven-chapel can be consumed, and visitors can pamper their senses with traditional tasty lángos, homemade food products, craft beers and local wines. The accompanying event of Dombos Fest is the literary festival Dombos Stories Remix, in the framework of which significant contemporary writers visit Kishegyes to take part in book presentations, roundtable discussions and debates. During the festival, young painters, sculptors and graphic artists hold a creative camp called Dombos Visual, and the works created here seek to rethink and reinterpret Vojvodina's artistic traditions. Related to Dombos Fest is the development of the Dombos Wine Club, a community space and café created in a traditional style in a cellar cut into the loess wall, where you can tune in to the Dombos life feeling all year round.
