Fluxus festival

08 Sep 2023
Kaunas, Lithuania

Celebration is inspired by the legacy of the godfather of the Fluxus movement George Mačiūnas, a resident of Kaunas. Fluxus festival can be described as a manifestation to break the mundane and dive into the unexpected; an adventure where the imagination takes over and everything becomes possible. The festival is Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022 program Fluxus Labs! initiative, which has been bringing local communities closer since 2017. Therefore, the importance of communities, their identities and connections is at the core of the event.

During the festival, residents and guests of the city dress up in bizarre ways and climb into the Exhibition hill (lt.Parodos kalnas), which is closed from the bustling cars for the event. Once the participants climb their way up, they enjoy and engage in various performances created by the artists and communities themselves. Every talent can find its place in the colourful and adventurous celebration designed to bring them closer to the people.
