FOLK AZORES

The FOLK AZORES® - International Folklore Festival of Azores is held in the magical Portuguese archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic, situated between Europe and North America, that is recognized as Portugal’s best-kept secret all are invited to discover the Jewels of the Atlantic, set in a brilliant ocean, these unspoiled emerald green isles, with sapphire blue lakes and beautiful flowers, have remained tranquil for generations where you can spend a memorable getaway exploring breathtaking volcanic craters, luxuriant gardens, mineral hot springs, and incredible coastal vistas amid an ideal climate.

COFIT (Terceira’s International Festivals Organizing Committee) is the organization that is in charge of the Festival that is supported by the Azores Government and also the town hall of Angra do Heroismo City and other public institutions of the Azores Region, as well by the sponsorship of local companies.

Every year, in the second week of August, the most diverse groups that come from the most different parts of the world, show everyone the best that have, making this festival full of a lot of color and music that fascinate everyone that attends it.

The joy that each group carries through from the unique culture of their countries, culminates in a beautiful blend of music and songs that become a flag and hymn to peace of a world that we all intended to be even better.
