International Festival of Organ Music in Oliwa (Gdansk, Poland)
THE INTERNATIONAL ORGAN MUSIC FESTIVAL AT THE OLIWA CATHEDRAL is Poland's oldest festival of its kind, with it's first edition held in 1957.
It is organized by the Pomeranian Society "Musica Sacra" and the Polisg Baltic Philharmonic in Gdansk, and takes place every July and August. In the annual editions of the festival participate a selection of the world's finest organists, not only from Poland but also from Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Canada, the USA, New Zeland, Italy, etc. The festival has a huge impact not only on the inhabitants of Pomerania, but also tourists visiting Gdansk, giving them the opportunity to learn about organ music in its natural, church environment.
The Festival in Oliwa is also inseparably connected with the Organ Festival in Jastrzębia Góra, and other annual organ festivals and concerts in Poland (Stegna, Frombork, Dzwierzuty, Kazimierz Dolny, Jastarnia).
