Malta Festival Poznań
The Malta Festival is an inter-generational gathering of theatre, music, dance, film, the city and visual arts. We are proactively engaged in arranging premiere performances that have a strong impact on the community we operate in. The festival lasts 10 days during with 300 events are held in nearly 50 different locations. Every year, the event attracts an 85,000-strong audience and over 700 artists from all over the world. We have always said that the art of being together lies at the core of the Malta Festival.
Ever since the very beginnings, the festival hosted the most important European artists devising new theatrical languages. The international programme of next year’s edition of the festival will be devoted to the Flemish director Luk Perceval who has been the artist in residence of the theatre in Gent since 2019. Perceval, one of the most important theatre makers in Europe, returned to Flanders after 14-years of living in Germany. The following year, in 2023, the Malta Festival 2023 will celebrate the work of Orhan Pamuk. The writings of the Turkish winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature will serve as inspiration for the performative and discursive programme of the edition to be held two years from now.
