Marsden Jazz Festival
Founded in 1992, Marsden Jazz Festival is one of the UK’s longest established jazz festivals.
Each year, over one weekend in October, thousands of visitors make the trip by train, bus, car or narrow boat to experience the unique atmosphere of this festival, which takes place right in the heart of Marsden village, gateway to the Yorkshire Pennines.
With over 70 free events and a range of headline gigs, the festival is hosted in around 25 venues across Marsden village, including pubs, bars, restaurants, outdoor stages, village halls and even a bandstand. Over festival weekend you can’t escape the sound of jazz wherever you are in the village.
Marsden Jazz Festival not only showcases a wide range of internationally-acclaimed jazz artists, but also commissions unique pieces of music, supports the local education of jazz to young people, and creates opportunity for rising talent to develop their craft. The festival has seen young musicians who first performed at the festival with school bands break through to become mainstream jazz artists.
