MonteverdiXL festival

On saturday 9 and sunday 10th of March Amersfoort is for the fourth time full with the sound of the famous Italian Composer Claudio Monteverdi (1547 - 1643) and his contemporaries: on different locations in the center of the city sounds their music. Famous ensembles like Le Nuove Musiche with conductor Krijn Koetsveld and the Austrian Ars Antiqua Austria ensemble, that will participate in the festival for the first time. Together they will perform the Monteverdi Opera thriller: Il combattimente di Tancredi e Clorinda in one of the many churches the St Franciscus Xaverius. Besides the music the visitors can enjoy an Italian buffet, a wine tasting, presentations and workshops (like yoga with Monteverdi). On the sunday there will be a citywalk with on the way several small fringe concerts on special locations. Traditionally the festival will end with 'Monteverdi meets Jazz', the final concert where jazz icon Jasper van 't Hof and jazz singer Greetje Bijma together with musicians and singers will perform Monteverdi with a 'jazzy touch'' .
