THE OPERA FESTIVAL AT THE MELNIK PYRAMIDS

The striving for the discovery and creative conquest of new
territories for opera and ballet art has repeatedly proven by
our initiatives that it is a visionary policy for encouraging and
developing a new type of tourism for Bulgaria and specifically
for cities that with their natural resources and historical landmarks
connect in a homogeneous synthesis with the musical
dramaturgy of world masterpieces of opera and ballet classic
heritage.
Unusual outdoor stage approaches, amid nature’s sights and
magical beauty, give thousands of viewers a new contact and
a new way to experience and discover the true emotional impact
of great composers and their works with the music, text,
acting and dance.
Together with opera repertoire, we include ballet productions.
The performances attract guests from the country and
abroad, who come to enjoy opera and ballet art under the
open sky. There is also an audience that has never been to the
Opera House before but we have seen them later as our followers.
THE OPERA FESTIVAL AT THE MELNIK PYRAMIDS will be a
magnet for new cultural tourism in the region. Sandanski,
Melnik, Petrich and all the other towns and villages will be
able to receive new, additional impact and contribution to
their economy.
Investing in the new initiative for organizing and sustaining
a summer opera festival OPERA AT THE MELNIK PYRAMIDS is
justified also with economic motivation in attracting guests,
specially traveling for the festival evenings.
The preliminary range of measures is in the proven practice
of the world music tourism business, with the advance sale
of tickets for the OPERA AT THE MELNIK PYRAMIDS performances,
accommodation in hotels, restaurants, guest houses
and in general the combination of recreation and holiday with
festival tourism.
The Summer Theatre of Sandanski can also be included with
a programme, and with matinee children’s performances in
the appropriate premises of the hotel complexes we will offer
“Concerts for Babies”, intended for children of an early age,
necessarily accompanied by their parents. These will be additional
cultural bonuses for hotel guests and will have a guaranteed
professional level of performance.
