REGARDS CROISÉS | BEGIRADA GURUTZAUAK | MIRADAS CRUZADAS BILBAO
The international cross-border “Regards Croisés - Begirada Gurutzatuak -Miradas cruzadas” began in Bilbao in 2012 with the collaboration on the French Institute in Bilbao and CCN Malandain Ballet Biarritz, for the transnational mobility of emergent artists and to favour their pedagogic work and the approach to new audiences through strong mediation activities with the local community. After many different collaborations through the years, the partners are Malandain Ballet Biarritz in Biarritz-France, KALE Cooperativa de Dança, in Vila Nova de Gaia - Portugal, and La Fundición, in Bilbao-Spain. Since 2012, many artists have crossed borders to meet audiences in other countries, promoting contemporary dance within a European identity. This last edition in 2022 promoted the artistic residency of the French company YMA, coming from Bordeaux, with the piece “Si nous prenions le temps”, an intimate duo with a broader impact on the general public. An open rehearsal and a conversation with the audience completed the presentation and the approach to their work, following the strong mediation component of the festival. The next edition will take place on 25 and 26 March 2023 and will promote the Portuguese emergent artist "Filipa Amorim", together with Regards Croisés Portugal, Vila Nova de Gaia and with the support of Regards Croisés Biarritz.
