Sculpture Quadrennial Riga

15 Aug 2024 - 27 Oct 2024
Rīga, Latvia

Since 1972, the Riga Sculpture Quadrennial is one of the largest regular contemporary art festivals in Latvia, which takes place once every four years in Riga. The focus of the event is to promote awareness of the synergy between the center and the periphery in contemporary and public art.

Since 2016, the festival has been directed by art scholar and curator Kristiāna Kārkliņa.

In 2019, the TKR team and co-curator Kristiana Karklini together with the US artist and curator Justin Hoover created the brand "No New Idols" (No New Idols), which works with performance art alongside sculpture, creating temporary, time-based performances, in which the emphasis is placed on ritual art practice, as well as gorgeous scenography and interdisciplinary artist collaborations.
