Suikerrock

Since 1987, Suikerrock takes place in the historical city centre of Tienen, home of the famous Tiense Suiker (Sugar from Tienen). The festival even takes it name from it, as Suikerrock is literally translated in English as Sugar Rock.

Over the years the festival had an exponential growth. With the greatest national and international artists on stage and on average more than 100,000 visitors during the festival weekend, Suikerrock has become Belgium’s favourite city music festival.

From classic rock to pop. From dance music to alternative rock. Suikerrock lines up a variety of music styles. Sting, Moby, Deep Purple, John Fogerty, Grace Jones, Lionel Richie are a few of a long list of great artists who once performed at Suikerrock.

Being a city music festival, the scenery at the central venue Grote Markt is breath-taking: main stage is surrounded by beautiful (historical) buildings like the city hall and the cathedral. Visitors can really experience the city feeling of Tienen.
