SYSTEMA 2024

30 Aug 2024 - 01 Sep 2024
Marseille, France

SYSTEMA is a consortium of international and non-profit art initiatives that convenes annually in Marseille. This gathering is a testament to the celebration of diverse forms of independence, showcasing the unique contributions each invited project brings. By presenting collaborative installations within the historical heart of Marseille, SYSTEMA offers a distinctive platform where art transcends traditional boundaries of exhibition making. Moreover, it serves as a fertile ground for project spaces to explore new environments and experiment with various modes of public engagement, thereby enriching the cultural landscape.

Internally, SYSTEMA curates its guests each year, drawing on either spontaneous or deeply rooted affinities, fostering a community of like-minded individuals and collectives. In its second edition, SYSTEMA will grace the Palais Carli, a monument steeped in history, located at the centre of Marseille. Constructed in the 17th century, the Palais Carli has been a beacon of cultural and intellectual activity, serving various roles from a public library to an arts institute, a fine arts museum, and currently, a conservatoire for music and theater. This choice of venue underscores SYSTEMA's commitment to blending historical significance with contemporary artistic expression, offering a unique experience that resonates with both participants and visitors. Through these efforts, SYSTEMA not only celebrates artistic independence but also contributes to the ongoing dialogue between art, history, and community in Marseille.
