Uppsala international Guitar Festival

Uppsala Guitar Festival is the most influential guitar event in Scandinavia. A meeting place for music celebration and learning. Artists as John Williams, Paco De Lucia, LAGQ, Anabel Montesinos, Marco Tamayo, Anoushka Shankar, David Russell, Duo Assad, Badi Assad, Manuel Barrueco, Pat Metheny, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Leo Brouwer and Vicente Amigo are all part of this festival´s great story celebrating 15 years.

The festival organize a yearly International Young Talent Competition, masterclasses, workshops as well as open forums and guitar fair. The festival was founded by Klaus Pontvik 2003 in a little culture center in Uppsala – Ekocaféet. Today it takes place at the amazing Uppsala Concert Hall bringing audience, artists and guitar nerds from all around the world.

Uppsala is a beautiful university city just 20 minutes from the international airport of Arlanda. The festival is led by Klaus Pontvik Executive Director and Stefan Löfvenius well known guitarist and one of the most prominent profiles in the field of musical education in Sweden.
