V International Operetta Festival in Ikšķile 6.-11.08.23 | Gala Concert And Waltz Evening 11.08.23.

To celebrate this important occasion for the Operetta Theatre, the Gala Concert will showcase the brilliant talents of outstanding soloists on the Festival stage - musical stars who have already won the hearts of audiences internationally.

The Opening concert at Ikšķile St. Meinards Ev.Lutheran Church on 6 August will feature talented young people from Latvian music schools who have already proven themselves and achieved some success. Since operetta, as a genre of performing arts, encompasses many different performing art forms, not only singers and dancers, but also instrumentalists are involved in operetta performances and will be represented in this concert. And it is possible that these young musicians will one day in the future be the sounding heralds of our Operetta Theatre. Entrance to the opening concert is free with registering for an invitation. On August 9, Ikškile Folk House JAZZ TRANSFORMATIONS "LIKE A BEAM OF LIGHT..."
For the first time, the festival will offer an opportunity to get to know the multifaceted world of jazz music, as well as the young and passionate professionals of this genre. The concert, whose musical core will be formed by jazz singer Edīte Štrausa and pianist Matīss Žilinskis, will feature jazz compositions by Raimonds Pauls, Ģederts Ramāns, Uldis Stabulnieks, Gunārs Rozenbergs, jazz improvisations on the themes of beautiful operettas and musicals. This concert promises to be as nuanced and sensual as the jazz that has captured the hearts of audiences around the world - a modern and sensory-transforming style of music. The accompanying instrumental group will include Jānis Pastars (guitar), Artūrs Sebris (saxophone), Rihards Jakuško (percussion) and Pēteris Liepiņš (double bass).

The Gala Concert on 11 August ar Ikšķile Openair Stage will feature: Oleksandr Chuvpilo (tenor), leading soloist of the Academic State Operetta Theatre in Kiev, Andrius Apsega (baritone), leading soloist of the Kaunas State Musical Theatre (Lithuania), Opera Theatre soloists Sonora Vaice (soprano), Anta Jankovska (soprano/Italian), Laura Purena-Kancāne (soprano), Dainis Skutelis (tenor), Kārlis Rūtentāls (tenor), Nauris Indzeris (baritone), etc. Guests, as well as dancers from the Operetta Theatre and the symphony orchestra under the direction of conductor Atvars Lakstīgala. The concert will feature the most beautiful opuses of musical theatre - pages from world-famous operettas, operas and musicals.

As the concerts of the Operetta Festival in Ikšķile have always been filled with a special, uplifting atmosphere - the wonderful music, the visual setting of the events and the closeness of nature can enchant every listener - this concert will also display the highest standard of operetta genre, guaranteeing its visitors overflowing joy, musical enjoyment and creatively emotional surprises!

The unique visual design of the Gala Concert will be created by the talented and in-demand multimedia artist and set designer Ineta Sipunova.

At the Waltz Evening at 22:00, which will immediately follow the conclusion of the concert, the Orchestra of the Operetta Theatre under the direction of Atvars Lakstigala will perform the most sparkling waltzes and polkas by Johann Strauss and other world-famous composers, giving concert-goers the opportunity to experience for themselves the special atmosphere and unforgettable sense of presence of a real Viennese waltz tour under an open, starry sky. Dance tour duration 1 hour. Admission to the Waltz Evening is free of charge for spectators who have purchased a ticket for the Gala Concert.
