With the concept of Circus Bodies, we will thread the different activities of the festival, its programming, workshops, talks, the school campaign, residencies...
The circus needs creative, expressive bodies that can transmit their visions of the world. Bodies that explore the limits of their own possibilities and that are themselves bearers of ideas, of stories, of astonishment. The body is the origin of the circus. But bodies are changeable, some of them wear out, some of them suffer the consequences of time, They are bodies that create, that innovate, that risk.
"...Perhaps what articulates circus practices is that they share a common origin, as well as multiple global origins. The common origin is the body, the carnivalesque and grotesque body, the popular condition, the marginal condition, the popular laughter, the exaltation of the body, the risk. The circus is transgression, the transgression of national, physical, disciplinary, conceptual, bodily frontiers; the transgression of the limits of the possible. The circus is a praise to the body, to the infinite possibilities of the human." Valeria Meza Valdez
But what is the limit of the body? What bodies do we see on stage? How does the artist's body age? Is there an age limit for circus?
These and many other questions are relevant today, some intrinsic to the artistic aspect, others also touch the social reality of the field. With the different activities proposed by the festival we seek to give visibility, generate reflection, debate and give voice to these concerns.
