XXXII Viljandi Folk Music Festival
The theme of the XXXII Viljandi Folk Music Festival is "Off The Ground!"
Let's get off the ground, dear friends! Let's awaken our senses, release the joy of dance, and let our voices ring out! XXXII Viljandi Folk Music Festival encourages finding new strength and energy through music. It's going to be a party full of lively dancing!
The exclamation "Off The Ground!" also carries another meaning at the 2025 Viljandi Folk Music Festival: We invite you to see and hear the representatives of peoples who, by fate, have had to find foreign soils for their roots. All of this is done for the sake of joy, because that is the true purpose of our folk music festival. Always.
Viljandi Folk Music Festival takes place in Viljandi's Castle Hills and city centre every July. It values tradition, heritage and local identity, and seeks to adapt the spiritual values that people have developed over hundreds and thousands of years to contemporary life. The aim of all this is to keep our traditions alive, strengthen our national character, and invigorate our musical mother tongue.
The festival consists of:
4 days of folk music celebration
5 outdoor stages, 3 indoor stages
more than 75 concerts + additional programme (playing, dancing and singing workshops)
50 artists from Estonia and abroad
more than 200 volunteers
more than 20000 visits
