XXXVIII FESTIVAL "THEATRE CITY"

Motto: “I am often haunted by the far away future, just so you know!”

In the festival edition that lies ahead, over 50 programmes, enabling to the theatre, music, fine arts as well as multimedia arts enthusiasts the insight into the innovative poetics and new forms of many authors tailoring the contemporary tendencies in art and culture creativity not just in the country but abroad too, are to be expected. Along with creativity, this year’s choice of the festival programme has been shaped by the proactive relationship towards both the cultural heritage and artistic heritage of the gifted and distinguished individuals in addition to the societal challenges being able to prove their true importance only when expressed through the artistic forms that prevail in the society nowadays. It goes without saying that the creativeness wasn’t lacking in the process. Consequently, this year festival’s motto- “ I am often haunted by the far away future, just so you know!”, a quote from the play Nadpop Kojović, written by Vida Ognjenović who has been commissioned to do so on behalf of the festival, was taken as a starting point for establishing both- this year festival’s programme agenda and its sole concept. XXXVIII festival’s theatre programme comprises 21 plays altogether, among which are the 4 new festival productions. As a part of the programme relating to music, a number of concerts are to be held. The two main ones, however, are done in collaboration with the Montenegrin Music Centre. As a part of the literary programme, some of the most important works of Romanesque literature are to be presented. The programme will open with the awarding ceremony of the Stefan Mitrov Ljubiša Prize given for the literary creativity. The fine arts programme will be marked by the exhibition dedicated to the painter Petar Lubarda’s canon. These are all works from the National Museum of Montenegro’s selection. The creativity and innovativeness of the exhibition is expressed through the use of 3D mapping technique.
