Łódź Four Cultures Festival

08 Sep 2023 - 17 Sep 2023
Łódź, Poland

This year's edition of the Festival of Four Cultures will be held under the theme Identity. This is related to the celebration of the 600th anniversary of Łódź and the desire to recall its multicultural heritage.

The Łódź of Four Cultures Festival is a continuation of the Dialogue of Four Cultures Festival, established in 2002, referring to multicultural roots of the city which has been for many years the pot of many cultures and nationalities. Over the course of 15 years, the festival has been managed by different people and organised by various foundations and institutions. The concepts and formula of the festival have evolved over the years. Nevertheless, one thing can be certain: there is no other event in Łódź that would be so recognisable and, at the same time, so rooted in the city's history. It is thanks to this event that Łódź is known all over Poland that it had been and still remains a multicultural, diverse, and open city. In the 19th century, it was made strong mainly by Poles, Jews, Germans, and Russians - four cultures which have left an indelible mark on the city's history. But the festival is not confined to the past, for just as the city is ever changing and developing, the festival needs to evolve as well. This is why its main theme is the modern day, with a focus on what is most important to the people of Łódź, Poland, and Europe. While based on the past, it looks towards the future.
